ANNUAL BACK-2-SKOOL FUN DAY BACKPACK DRIVE

Our annual backpack giveaway whereby we donate essential school supplies, backpacks, hygiene kits, tablets/laptops and other necessities to elementary and middle school age children.  Lessening the burden a little, Sisters goal is to gift families with items to ensure the youth thrive in school and distance-learning. We also have a full day of fun with games, free food, bounce houses, yoga, group tutoring and gaming stations which are generously donated by our community partners as well as individuals.

SELF-CARE RETREATS

As self-care is one of the core values that Sisters was founded upon, we LOVE to curate intimate, live wellness retreats (domestic and international) that stimulate all of the senses and provide an abundance of healing through activities that are rooted in the 8 principles of wellness.

8-DIMENSIONS OF WELLNESS ONLINE CURRICULUM

Created out of a growing need for Sisters to have a starting place for healing, the 8- Dimensions of Wellness online curriculum was born.  It is an individual and group online based program. The program will focus on coping effectively with life’s challenges, creating satisfying relationships, setting new goals, identifying self-care activities, setting boundaries and improving our overall lives one day at a time.  The program will be facilitated by licensed mental health professionals as well as other community supports.

YOUTH ART RENAISSANCE TAKEOVER WEEK

Art Take Over Week is our premier Annual Summer event that has a theme directly relative to Black and Brown youth.  The week-long activities strictly dedicated to youth ages 13-18 was created out of the need to bring some normalcy to our youth during this international pandemic. We intend to give families a safe place for their youth to exercise their gifts and talents while using creativity aimed at educating, skill-building and using art as a means of economic empowerment.

DAY OF TRANSFORMATION

In celebration of the principles of Kwanzaa, our Day of Transformation is an annual event that aims to assist individuals that are experiencing homelessness or housing inequities feel appreciated and supported. We provide a day full of “transformation” where individuals can ideally get access to showers and hygiene facilities, haircuts/hairstyling, new or gently used casual/formal clothing to have a sitdown dinner with members of the Sisters community. We partner with other community organizations onsite to assist with accessing resources. We are always looking for volunteers, sponsors and donors to help provide food, clothing and other products and services.

EMPOWERMENT BRUNCH

Sisters love to socialize, eat, laugh and heal together! That is why our brunch serves to connect women leaders in business and community with women looking to be empowered, educated and inspired to reach their goals.  We love to partner with small businesses and corporations whose values align with supporting Black and Brown women to succeed and would like to invest in spaces where their featured products/services would be vital.  Also, we love to utilize local women-owned event spaces, caterers, bartenders, art curators, vendors, etc to create an environment full of Black Girl Magic!
